John Lloyd doesn’t want his movie compared to For The First Time

Box-office actor John Lloyd Cruz does not agree that the success of A Very Special Love should cause pressure on other Star Cinema movies, like KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez’ For The First Time. Although both films are classified as romantic dramas, For The First Time has yet to prove if it will surpass or equal John Lloyd and Sarah Geronimo’s hit movie in terms of commercial gross. "Ang isang project ‘pag nagiging successful, hindi siya dahilan para ika-pressure ng ibang project," John Lloyd shared during his contract-signing for the TV series I Love Betty La Fea, August 27.

He even related that it’s the same case when he was promoting A Very Specia Love, people kept on comparing it with his and Bea Alonzo’s previous flick One More Chance. For Lloydy,in the end, it is still the audience who will decide."Pero sa lahat naman ng project na gagawin mo, iba-iba naman ‘yan, eh. Hindi ‘yan puwedeng i-compare sa mga nagawa mong project. Pero siyempre, kung mas magugustuhan at mas maraming taong manonood, bakit hindi, how can you say no to that?"

Surprisingly, Lloydie said that he still has reservations if he could say that he is "made" as an actor despite coming out with one hit movie after the other. "Yung pelikula (A Very Special Love), hindi pa ‘yan sapat para ma-realize ko na kaya ko na," he confessed. He explained that having that reservation helps him from resting on his laurels. "Sa tingin ko, ‘yung duda kailangan mo para ma-maintain mo ‘yung sanity mo bilang isang artista," he pointed out.
